I’ve just received almost a fourth of my books for next semester. While my bank account is being emptied, at least these are some very exciting titles. Even the social science credits I’m taking are incorporating the use of memoir in the course. However, as I see all the Facebook status updates about how summer is ending and everybody wants to be back in school, I’m just going to embrace these last five weeks. There’s plenty of books that I still want to read while I have some free time, and there’s also a lot of writing I want to accomplish in the next month. I’m not a very ‘live in the moment’ sort of person, but I like that I have time to read some Stephen King novels and play around with plot ideas.

I went to the dentist today to get some cavities filled. However, it turned out that I actually didn’t have any cavities, just incredibly poor gums. As a result, I need to stop loading my coffee with packets of Splenda. I guess caffeine doesn’t do much harm, but the sugar is what’s been ripping my mouth apart. I’ve been trying to make the jump into black coffee anyways.

I’ve been submitting micro-fiction everywhere I can find, but I have yet to have anything accepted. Nanoism and Onefortyfiction haven’t actually replied yet, but my chances with those aren’t exactly the best. The editor of Trapeze emailed me back with some help in terms of what she’s looking for in genre, which my little blurb didn’t fit. This is a lot harder than I expected.
